Nearing the end of this round of treatments, thank you’s, a few updates, and first snow!

It’s very strange to sit and write that nearly 6 weeks have already gone by already, this coming Monday the 14th will be the last day I go in for radiation treatment at the cancer center.

I’ve been told I can keep the radiation mask, I think I will and try to remember to post a picture of it on social media. Might as well keep it, it’s safe to and just going to be thrown away anyway.

I have to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has volunteered to drive me to radiation appointments since October 10th:

Fr. Jay Johnson

Deacon Francis

Alyce Shchipper

Bobbie Gaunt

Holly Anderson

last but certainly not least, my lovely and sweet wife; Marcy Elder.

I cannot say thank you enough to you all and hope that you all know that because of your generosity - you provided treatments to me.

For updates, right before Halloween I decided to shave my head and face. The long hair was falling out in handfuls from the radiation and chemo treatments and while I’m optimistic and have been told it will grow back in a few months from now, it’s nice to not have to deal with it anymore. I do plan on growing it back, in another 18 months! Also both Marcy and Matthew asked me to regrow the beard so it will also be back.

I am still incredibly grateful for everything that Marcy has done to both motivate and keep me on track every single day. From being not only my advocate and best friend and someone I can talk to, to helping me keep everything straight in my head in terms of appointments, meds and researching clinical trials.

Marcy and I are looking at Clinical Trials currently in:

Gainesville, FL

Chapel Hill, NC

New York, NY

Also, speaking of grateful - thank you to everyone who still not only sends us messages but for the continued donations to the GoFundMe that we receive. Here is the url/info for it for anyone that would like to and is able to donate.

I’m also writing this while watching the first snow fall here in Holland, Michigan.

Last thing thing I’d like to say is to my fellow Marines/Veterans; No matter what you’re going through at this moment, do not give up. That that has been the whole point of this blog. Keep pushing forward, every single day. You are loved by someone and you make an impact on someone that you don’t even know about. If you’re in a dark place, and need someone to reach out to please call the suicide hotline with the VA. Dial 988, then press 1. That’s it.

Thank you all again, for your continued support
